CASA ALMERIA

In 2005 I designed CASA ALMERIA. A mixture of luxury, lifestyle, contemporary design. To the left is the main house, with large living areas, large open kitchen and a large underground garage/studio. To the right we have 3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms and when you open the doors in the morning it takes only a few steps to the swimmingpool. Connecting the two is a "deconstructivist" structure that also holds a staircase to the roof of the bedroomwing.

Oh, life can be such a drag...

Ahike

This is the Awardwinning backpack-kitchen from the 1997 international Anteprima design contest in Leipzig, Germany. Absolutely lightweight design with special aluminum stilts, heat resistant inner layer and wind shield, heat canal that also takes the pots and pans when traveling and a water reservoir. It stands high of the ground to prevent the gras from catching fire.

When you're done preparing food or hot drinks, simply pull the stove up and it disappears into the backpack. That same pulling cord then serves as a strap around your shoulder. Every part was designed to have multiple functions. Integrated design for fun.

Come on, take Ahike.

"Precious"

"The Lady of the Bracelets" this is. I love to work in precious metals from the beating and shaping to the delicate softening and precise detailling. Working IN the material gives a mysterious feeling of being one with the design. The contrast of razor sharp edges and gentle soft curves is what life is about. This 'MBRACE ® tells you all about it, from the sound to the smell, from the touch to the spirit.

It just tells you what's precious, my precious.

Wind Me Up Baby!

Ah, this one already is a classic. It looks as if it's a massive block of wood, with sharp rectangular edges all around. But it actually only has 3 sides and there are no nails, there is no glue and there are no screws to fix it as a side table. You just "wind it up"...

It doesn't pretend to be "design", it just has it's very own sympathetic, interesting way of being there.

Form and Function.

Is it a Tent? No, it's a Patent.

When you have a great idea, how to make a dwelling more simple, strong and effective at the same time, you should patent it. Well, at least that's what I did. But when you think that from there all building companies want to use your idea, well that's an illusion. With most companies just wanting to stay into traditional building, the one that got nearest to using it for their clients finally said that their working staff didn't understand it so they would continue what they were doing. And then there was a professor from the Technical University in Eindhoven. He thought it was a great idea and would try to persuade the staff to build one or two examples scale 1:1. And then I never heard of him again.

At least I had a tent...
